Medium: 3D Printing, Upcycled Puffer Jackets, Merino, Spray Finishes

Field research along the Birrarung informs the process, mapping the human body through creaturely poses, which are then digitally reconstructed. Virtual sketches of 3D forms are overlaid onto the body, with soft extrusions realized through FDM 3D printing. Upcycled puffer jackets are draped to form hulking new limbs, while industrial techniques shape shoulder growths, systematically wrapped in mesh and coated with spray finishes.

From the depths of the Birrarung's murk, a creature stirs — a strange, glistening entity, part tendons, part circuitry, a newly born hybrid being curious to inhabit the body of water that has surfaced at MPavilion.
